Stephen Blackburn
Stephen
Blackburn is a watercolorist from South Bend, Indiana. He seeks to share his
love of Jesus Christ and the anticipation of beauty in the world through the
bright colors and exciting shapes in his paintings.
Mr. Blackburn has a degree in architectural engineering, and worked in the
construction industry as a draftsman for many years while he refined his
painting style and built a list of clients. He has been painting professionally
for almost 20 years,the last eight as a full-time artist. He has studied under
many artists, including Frank Webb, Roland Roycraft and Joe Fettingis. His
extensive list of shows includes the Penrod Arts Fair in Indianapolis, Art on
the Bluff in St. Joe, Michigan, the Lakefront Art Festival in Michigan City, St.
James Court Art Show in Louisville, Kentucky and New East Side Artworks in
Chicago, Illinois. He has won awards in regional and national shows.
For the past several years Mr. Blackburn has taught his unique style of
watercolor in classes and workshops in the Midwest area. His work can be seen at
the Water Lily Gallery in Syracuse, Indiana. He was featured in the American
Artist publication "Watercolor - Summer 1997". His image "Forgotten Treasure"
was included in the book "Best of Watercolor - Painting Composition" by Rockport
Publishers, and one of his paintings is featured in the book "Best of Watercolor
3". Mr. Blackburn recently won the grand prize for his piece "Sunbathe" during
the international floral competition sponsored by International Artist magazine,
and his work was featured in the October/November 2002 issue of their magazine.
